Back from France

I just got back from a 1 day quickie to France. I was asked by the VP of R&D of one of the worlds largest food companies to give the opening, kick-off speech for their first ever global strategy meeting. It was exciting to see these research scientist getting the value creation bug. Now some are even thinking about getting some further education at SIMI. I am expecting big things from this company down the road, if they keep their eyes on create customer value as the only true way of building long term value for shareholders.

The crusade moves Nordic!

December 12th, 2007

I know, I know, it has been awhile. The movement has gone Nordic as I have moved my base of operations to Copenhagen. I am the Program Director for two executive education programs at SIMI - Managing ICT Software & Services Strategically (MITS) and Managing the Service Delivery System (MSDS).

SIMI is what I call an Executive Education boutique, whose “mission is to be a leading international business institute for development of leadership and senior management competence in Northern Europe.”

Immigration the lifeblood of entrepreneurship?

January 4th, 2007

Immigrant are now behind 52% of all Silicon Valley start-ups.

That is powerful. It is also proof for anyone doubting the importance of immigration and diversity for the success a capitalist economy. This same study reports that immigrants are also behind 25% of all US high tech start-ups.

Simply put, Freedom of Ideas, Mobile Capital, Mobile Labor (within and across borders) are key for wealth creation, wealth redistribution, employment, high tax bases, innovation, value for customer and value for society.

I touch on a few related point at terrencebrown.net.

Gary and Emanuel have developed a consensual marketing solution using bluetooth. With the boost from the competition, I expect the business built around this technology - Thirty Three Feet - to continue to develop. Congratulations Gary and Emanuel.

Kompetensmässan 2006

November 15th, 2006

Today I take the crusade to the World Trade Center in Stockholm. Tuesday and Wednesday the Center is the host for the Kompetenmässan 2006, which is Sweden’s largest and most important forum for competence development in personal, leadership and business development. I have been featured on the home page for months.

I am, of course, talking about creating value through entrepreneurship. However, because my seminar is in English, it is unclear home many people had pre-registered. This seminar was supposed to be a book seminar, which would feature my latest book, but unfortunately the book has been delayed. I am not really happy about that delay. I have some many ideas that are just building up, but this current project needs to be out of the way before I start another.

I will let you how it goes.

I really need to learn to shave much more closely under the hot lights. Oh well.

IQube gets some new board members

October 24th, 2006

Johan Stael von Holstein picked some fresh blood for iQube a few days ago. iQube, if you don’t know is a newfangled new venture incubator as such. In fact one of the iQube’s success stories are students of mine. Anyway, Johan was lucky to get an inflow of cash about 45 Million SEK during the summer. So, I guess it was a good time to announce the new board additions.

The four new mini-celebrity board members are: Företagarna’s Managing Director, Gunvor Engström, media entrepreneur Anne Wegelius, Svenska Spel’ss Managing Director Jesper Kärrbrink and Bonnier Tidskrifter publishing boss Ulrika Saxon.

I applaud these appointments. However, if Johan really wants to help build global and paradigm busting businesses, he is going to have to have a much more diverse group of business coaches, mentors and a much more diverse board.

The Crusade has begun!

October 18th, 2006

How much value have you created today? That was my opening to my speech last nite. Even before I introduced myself.

At the Aula Magna at Stockholm University, my crusade began. I told the audience that entrepreneurship is about creating and redistributing wealth in the most effective, efficient and democratic way. (This does not mean that pain is ocassionally involved.) While the economic role of entrepreneurship is more well known, entrepreneurship has an important social role as well. Being a entrepreneur is a noble profession. Furthermore everyone has the opportunity (or should have the opportunity) to become an entrepreneur. We need to make sure the new government keeps this in mind as it develops its policies.

From the response of the crowd during the speech as well the response of the many people who came up to me afterwards, I seem to have already gain some converts.
